Project Description
As a condition of consent for a new business park in Aviation Way, Southend, the developer agreed with the local authority to move the rugby club to a new site. We were selected to carry out the work, which involved creating 4 new pitches out of a greenfield site. This project included intensive primary and secondary drainage, floodlighting and a year's maintenance to grow the pitches in for use in 2017/2018.
The challenges here were predominantly from archaeology. Primary personal characteristics required from the operator are patience and a polite demeanour!
At the time of writing the pitches are looking good and the grass is well established. The secondary drainage is currently being installed and the pitch will be ready for play in autumn 2017.
Client Feedback
"Westcliff RFC has been delighted by both the quality of works performed by Bourne Sport and also the willingness to keep the club appraised with regard to the whole pitch construction process as works have progressed. Our project relates to the complete relocation of the club to a new site and so the works are of critical importance to the club's future. Bourne Sport has conducted the work in an exemplary manner which has allayed any concerns the club had at the commencement of the project."
